The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith

The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency (No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency Series #1)

Originally reviewed February 10th, 2006:

Description: The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series tells the story of the delightfully cunning and enormously engaging Precious Ramotswe, who is drawn to her profession to "help people with the problems in their lives." Immediately upon setting up shop in a small storefront in Gaborone, she is hired to track down a missing husband, uncover a con man, and follow a wayward daughter. But the case that tugs at her heart, and lands her in danger, is that of a missing eleven-year-old boy, who may have been snatched by witch doctors.
A nice story about the only lady detective in the town and the cases that she gets, along with what is going on in her own life. Each case that Mma Ramotswe takes on is usally solved within the chapter, which is usually about 5 or 6 pages on average. I liked the story and the writing, but I felt that there could have been more in the sense of her cases. I do look foward to reading the rest of the series in the future.

This series is on my to be read list (along with a million others), but unfortunately I have not read anything else by Smith as of yet.
